In the long-forgotten annals of its history, the mighty world of Arya existed as a testament to the adaptability of life, even in dire conditions. It was on every continent, in every crevice and behind every corner that the world possessed. The most prominent inhabitants of Arya included Lykos, Panthera and Elves, among several other civilization-building species that lived together in near-perfect harmony, save for the occasional war.
One day, however, the peace was shattered in a disastrous and irreversible way, forever misshaping the fate of Arya. On this day, a horrid downpour of Novax crystals began to rain from above, transforming the continents into floating masses of rock and debris, with large Novax crystals at their cores. Countless beings lost their lives, and what was once sprawling green wilderness very rapidly became a charred and distorted wasteland.
In the aftermath of this cataclysmic event, the tiny pockets of survivors found themselves stranded on clumps of dirt, rock and magma floating many miles above what was once their homeland. Many thousands of them died in this period, but those who did manage to eke out some form of living had to deal with a huge lack of resources such as food, water, building materials and almost everything else. On the larger islands, the first few months of this new reality brought constant war over territory and whatever resources there were left. However, within a short amount of time, different islands and species began to experiment with the Novax crystals that had brought them so much suffering. At first, they were utilized to build powerful cannons, staffs and other weapons of war. Eventually though, a small group of humans discovered how to use Novax crystals for propulsion and movement, leading to the creation of the first airships.
With the advent of airships came the dawn of a new era of peace. Eager to get their hands on this handy new mode of transport, all the opposing factions of what was left of Arya were more than happy to sign peace treaties and demilitarize themselves, making the threat of constant war a thing of the past. This new peace led to increasing efforts to reestablish society in the skylands, with the almost forgotten verdant fields returning within several years. Soon after that, new establishments and civilisations began making beautiful homes for themselves amidst the sky, eventually leading to the provinces that we know of today.
But, under this facade of peace, trouble was ready to once more emerge as certain organizations made moves to control and own as much Novax as they possibly could, eventually leading to the colonization of some of the “Rogue Islands”, loose islands that floated about with no particular direction. No colonies had been established there in fear of collisions with other islands, and defenses were soon established to prepare against the eventuality of this occurring.
And, a while later, we arrive at the present day. The very same day where you, dear Skylander, are to set out and stake your claim on Arya…
